GTX5020R Gen 2 Garrett 88mm Turbo
The GTX5020R Gen 2 is the second generation of the GTX5020R turbocharger offered by the company Garrett. It is an upgraded version of the original GTX5020R and features several improvements over its predecessor.
The Gen 2 version features an upgraded compressor wheel that is made of high-strength aerospace-grade aluminum and features a new aerodynamic design. This allows the turbocharger to produce more horsepower and torque at a given boost pressure than the original version. It also features a new billet aluminum compressor housing that is designed to reduce weight and improve durability.
Other improvements include a new turbine wheel design, which is designed to improve exhaust gas flow and reduce backpressure. Additionally, the Gen 2 version features a new bearing housing design, which is designed to improve the turbocharger’s reliability and durability.
Like the first generation, this turbocharger is designed for high-performance and racing applications. It is suitable for engines that produce up to 1000 horsepower, and it is often used in racing and high-performance applications such as drag racing, time attack, and road racing. As it is a high-performance part, professional installation and tuning is required for optimal results.
GTX5020R GEN II 88MM
Garrett Turbochargers come in a wide range of sizes, with sizes typically measured by the size of the turbine and compressor wheels. Some common sizes include the GT12, GT15, GT20, GT25, GT28, GT30, GT35, GT40, and GT55. The size of the turbocharger can affect the amount of boost it is able to produce and its overall performance characteristics. It is important to choose the appropriate size for your specific application and power goals

Gen II Compressor Wheel Dimensions and Aerodynamics
GTX5020RÂ 88mm inducer diameter
- Comp exducer is now 120mm (+2mm vs Gen 1)
- Gen II wheel produces 9% more air flow
- 30% lower inertia
- Reduced inertia due to reduction of material in the hub and blades
- Roughly 20% lower mass
- Lower inertia helps make boost faster and increases overall turbo efficiency
- Increased flow has potential to make more power at same boost or same power at lower boost levels
Larger Comp Exducer on Gen II
