MAP Sensor – GM 3 Bar MAP Sensor
GM 3 Bar MAP Sensor aka Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor. This sensor is good for up to 29psi of turbo/supercharger boost and is fully compatible with the MS3Pro ECU and all flavors of the MegaSquirt EMS / MicroSquirt EMS.
Replaces GM Part Numbers 12223861, 16040749 & 12223749 used commonly by GM, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, and Pontiac from about 1982 until about 2003. They are commonly used for replacement in these vehicles, but we also commonly use them with our aftermarket MegaSquirt/MS3Pro Engine Management Systems.
GM 3-bar Manifold Pressure Sensor Wiring Diagram / Pinout Information:
It’s pretty straightforward to use this with any of our aftermarket EMS options. As per the wiring diagram above, you can:
- Wire Pin A to Sensor Return/Ground at the ECU.
- Wire Pin C to 5-volt vref from the ECU.
- Wire Pin B, the Sensor Output, to the ECU’s MAP Sensor Input.
Calibration Information for Aftermarket EMS usage:
Calibration is linear with 1.1 kPa at 0 volts and 315.5 kPa at 5 volts.
This is available as a simple pre-configured choice from the drop-down box when configuring your MegaSquirt/MicroSquirt/MS3Pro ECU.
The wiring harness connector is sold separately as we give you a choice of a ready-to-crimp connector or a pre-crimped pigtail. Our USA-assembled map sensor uses a universal keying that is compatible with pigtails for 1, 2, and 3-bar MAP sensors. Older sensors used a specific keying you had to match with the connector you’re using. This sensor will work with any wiring connector keying variant.
This sensor is assembled in the USA, unlike the current Delphi production. We try to use USA-sourced parts in every case we can!
